Why we are campaigning
The closure isn't affecting just one road or one neighbourhood
Albert Bridge has been closed since February 2026, creating increased congestion, longer journeys and significant disruption on both sides of the river.
It is having a knock-on effect across Battersea, Chelsea and the surrounding roads, with increased traffic, longer journeys and disruption for residents, businesses, families and visitors. Albert Bridge is an important connection between our communities.
We understand that the bridge needs to be properly repaired and made safe. Our campaign is not against the necessary repairs — it is about how the closure is being managed, and how long it takes.
